TWO ARTISTIC PROJECTS
Last month’s updates
PLEASER
In February I did my last residency for Pleaser, at Panama Pictures in Den Bosch. During that week I revisited parts of the show, refined the movement language, created the final section, worked with Shailesh Bahoran and Pia Meuthen, and did a run-through for some members of the Panama team.
I made some cuts and let go of a subtheme that had been diluting the show's core rather than reinforcing it (I might still give space to it in an article). I also started working with Carlo Dini on new music for the final part of the show. And I concluded the month with a show at Korzo, in a double bill with Azadî by Yasmin Diktas. Thanks to everyone who joined!

HEAVY META
In February I did one spot at the Italian comedy night in Amsterdam, where I tested some new jokes that might make it into the final show, while exploring different ways to be on stage, this time taking an even calmer approach. I'm becoming more aware of how open mics can pull focus away from building the dramaturgy of the full show, even though they remain necessary to find out if a joke actually works. In the next month I will do fewer scattered spots and more structured try-outs.

AGENDA
Shows/spots I am in
10 MAR

Jokes on the Boat, LaughPlug Comedy at Vessel, Rotterdam
Speaking of scattered spots, I’ll tell some tested jokes on the Vessel boat alongside other comedians.
30 MAR

Comedy Special Showcase, Quips and Bits comedy at O’casey, Den Haag.
And this time I’ll do a longer set that goes in the category of “more structured-ish try out” alongside 4 other comedians.

Upcoming events I am interested in

07/03 » The elephant in the Room, Iris Boer/Lazy Susan & co.
The Elephant in the Room is a visual, intimate, yet confrontational performance that resembles a poetry collection and consists of short scenes. These physical and visual meditations express the feeling of fear.

08/03 » Opening Mejmou3en photo exhibition by Dunya Zita
The opening of the first photo exhibition of Dunya! “Mejmou3en (together) is an intuitive and personal project that emerged during her stay in Morocco in 2024. In the absence of a shared language with her family, new encounters became a way for her to better understand her family and heritage.”
at FOTODOK
Utrecht

14/03 » Daydreamer by Nadine Froughi
The very funny Nadine Froughi presents her debut solo hour! “Expect a multimedia musical-comedy romp filled with PowerPoint, feminine rage, and catchy songs. This high-energy show is for the daydreamers and situationship survivors.”

PAST MONTH
Shows/spots I was in
Rosas Dance Battle
08/02 at Vorst
It has been a while since I battled. Ended up in top8 in this all-style battle organized by the iconic Rosa's dance company in Belgium. Interesting to see the mix of dancers from the contemporary and hiphop world coming together.

Pleaser (work in progress)
12/02 at Panama Pictures,
Den Bosch
Did a run for some of the Panama Team during my residency. Great help to test the last additions to the show. Picture is to show how beautiful their space is.

Maccheroni Comedy
21/02 at Bij Barba, Standup comedy, Amsterdam
A fun evening with a packed room. For the first time I wrote and tested jokes directly in Italian, until now I had always translated material from English. This also means that for the first time, I might have to tell jokes in English translated from Italian.

Pleaser
26/02 at Korzo,
The Hague
I really enjoyed performing at Korzo for the lovely audience, and sharing the stage with the nine dancers of Azadî by Yasmin Diktaş Diktas. Picture is from the tech round.

Live Comedy Table read by Big Game Comedy
27/02 at Boom Chicago,
Amsterdam
A silly, very fun one. I played Dan from a revisited first episode of Gossip Girl, reading my lines from the script in my best Italian accent, alongside a great cast of funny people (the picture is from before the show, we actually had an audience)

Shows I watched
19 /02
at Goudse Schouwburg,
Gouda
A story of Displacement by Panama Pictures
I enjoyed watching this performance very much, being sitting very close to the musician made it even more magical “A beautifully designed piece, moving, with wonderful music, excellent dancers and acrobats. At the same time, the performance is confrontational: for an hour, no one in the audience can ignore the distress of others.”
Past Sessions
Workshops, coaching, and learning moments I joined on February.
» Panama Residency + sessions with Shailesh and Pia
It was a very focused and productive week in Den Bosch, and the last residency period for this show. It was also, once again, an opportunity to deepen my relationship with prolonged solo work as I am learning that spending full days alone in the studio is a practice in itself. It requires learning how to work with my body without giving in to distraction, and how to keep both mind and body in a state where the work remains not only productive, but also (somewhat) enjoyable.
I worked closely with Shailesh, and we really geeked out on ways to move the body. I also had the chance to work with Pia Meuthen, Artistic Director of Panama Pictures, who gave me very precise and valuable feedback. Towards the end of the week, I did a run-through for some members of the Panama team. It was also refreshing as I got to stay in a very characteristic B&B in a very small town.
